Typo Patrol: Fun at the home improvement store
April 16, 2010 by Shannon
I never thought I’d put the words “fun” and “home improvement store” together, but looky there – I just did. Clearly, my life is overly focused on real estate and home repairs for me to consider Home Depot fun. But hey, you gotta enjoy life when and where you can, right?
So the last time Michael and I were roaming around Home Depot, I was very thankful I brought my camera along to document various tile options and bathroom vanities. Because lurking on one of the tile displays, I spotted this:

If you know me at all, and by now I hope you do, you can bet I became absolutely, ridiculously giddy at the sight of this simple little label. DISCONTUED. Ha! See? Who says the home improvement center can’t be entertaining? Right?
Okay, maybe you have to be a typo freak like me to find that funny. But the next one, I assure you, will elicit a chuckle or you’re just not human. I don’t even know why I wandered over to the area rug display because that’s probably the ONE thing we’re not in the market for at this time. (However – carpet, sinks, faucets, bathroom vanities, shower doors, light fixtures, paint, dining tables, sectionals and kitchen appliances are all things we are keeping an eye out for. Sheesh. That’s a long list when you look at it all typed out.) So I walked up to the area rug display and my eyes were immediately drawn to the label on the first rug:

Shaggedy shag? Seriously??? I burst into another fit of giggles, called Michael over to show him, and started snapping pictures through the belly laughs. Shaggedy shag. Wow. I suppose the inspiration for this rug’s name came from Austin Powers or something? I walked around the aisles giggling to myself for at least another 10 minutes.
And even though I am admittedly a little bizarre for taking such delight in finding typographical and grammatical errors, even I am thinking I need to get out a little more. Somewhere other than Home Depot, at least.
P.S. – I’m including this random picture of myself because I realized I STILL haven’t posted a photo of me sporting the baby belly. While this isn’t the most flattering picture in the world, it gives you an idea of how big the bump is getting. This was taken while Michael and I were patrolling a furniture store last weekend. Note the gigantic accordion file I have tucked under my arm, which has become my brain. I’m hoping all this moving stuff will go according to plan so I can have a little time to fill that accordion file with some nursery ideas. So please keep your fingers crossed for me that this baby DOES NOT COME EARLY. Thanks.

Oh come on now, the Home Depot is always fun!!
Have you guys thought about lookin for some of those items at a home construction salvage shop? I’m sure Boise has one of those? I did a story at one this week and it was full of all of those things and they were so COOL!!! Plus, it’s good for the environment and you can find unique pieces!
And you look SO GREAT!!!!!! You were such a lovely, stylish pregnant lady with Kellan so I’m sure you’re the same this time around!
That nesting instinct is kicking into high gear, huh?
Hey, take your laughs where you can get ‘em, right? We also spend WAY too much time in Home Depot these days.
