Trick or Treat!
November 1, 2009 by Shannon
Success! The acrobat costume was completed with plenty of time to spare. (I’m a little shocked that I did not sew it to the big fuzzy bathrobe I was wearing.) I also attached a couple of cute little bat ears to his cap, which are hard to see in this picture.
We even had enough time to get the house decked out and round up some costumes for ourselves. What’s Michael, you ask? Well, at Kellan’s request, there’s a big turtle shell strapped to his back. I thought he would have made a much better Rod Blagojevich — you know, the disgraced Illinois governor? We even had the perfect wig for him. But Michael decided that if your kid thinks you should be a turtle, you have to be a turtle. What a nice dad.
By the way, if your kid ever wants to be a bat (or an “acro-bat”), using an umbrella is the way to go. It’s kinda fun to disassemble it, and the wings turn out really cool. I used an old umbrella we had around the house, and bought a shirt and hat at the dollar store. Total cost of this costume: $2.
How was your Halloween?

Awesome, I’ve been waiting for this post! Let me know when you get some more photos of the little acro-bat posted somewhere.
Nice work, Mom!!! And yes. If the kids says you’re a turtle, you’re a turtle. That’s the rule.
Whoa… you made your son’s costume? SO cute! You should change your name to supermommy!
You looked so pretty, too! Love the costumes!!
GOOD JOB!! You are so damn crafty! By the way, you look pretty in pink too.
Very awesome, I love the wings, never would have thought of that!
I had a mermaid and a cowboy this year. We didn’t have money to get Vic a costume, but we had some cowboy duds and he was very cute. Pele wanted him to be the mummy king, but I just didn’t feel right about TP’ing a 2 year old.
