Trading Spaces: The adventure continues

I’ve had about a month now to get used to the idea that we are moving. During that time I’ve gone from bawling during HGTV’s My First Sale to feverishly working my fingers to the bone in the yard to get it looking perfect. Lord knows I don’t just weed and move bark mulch around for the fun of it. The only other thing that would have me acting this manic about lawn care would be if someone told me they were scheduling a big celebrity photo shoot on my property. Well, unless the celebrity were a certain mom of multiples who just got booted from one of those dancing shows. Then I’d be all, screw you lady. You deserve a crop of weeds behind you in your fancy, schmancy photo shoot.
So things are looking pretty good around here, and the packed boxes are piling up. I’m in the lucky position of being able to pack away most of my wardrobe. I’m too big to wear most of my clothes anyway, and I’ll most likely be too big to wear any of it even after I give birth, so in the box it goes. That definitely makes the prospect of moving while 8 months pregnant just a little bit easier.
OMG. I have not contemplated that last sentence until just now. I WILL BE 8 MONTHS PREGNANT WHEN WE MOVE. I’d pondered the fact that I’ll have about a month between Moving Day and Birth Day, but when you put the terms 8 MONTHS PREGNANT and MOVE together, it’s a bit shocking. Oh. Oh dear.
All right. I’m okay. Deep breaths, deep breaths…. After all, have you seen that Bravo show, 9 By Design? The woman on that show moved into a tiny New York City apartment with seven kids, just two weeks away from her due date. I suppose if she can do it, I can do it. Of course, she’s used to moving. She moves every year or something like that. I haven’t moved in almost a decade. Oh dear.
Seriously? Is that the second home improvement show I’ve referenced in this post? Wow. I must be getting ready to move. I could probably ace a quiz about HGTV’s programming lineup right now. Go ahead. Try me.
All in all though, I think I’m holding together pretty well considering the circumstances. I just keep plugging away at my very long to-do list, which is a lot more productive than sitting around and worrying about every aspect of the move. Turns out, some measure of productivity is an excellent antidote to panic attacks. Oh, and if you happen to need any information or references on home staging, house painting, hardwood floor refinishing, wallpaper removal, fence construction, furnace replacement, contractors, painters or realtors? I’m your girl. Just don’t ask me what I’m going to name my new baby. I have no brain cells available to consider that dilemma at the moment.

Wow, that’s a lot going on at one time. My bro & SIL are moving this weekend w/ a newborn & toddler. If you ask me, your way is less stressful. At least you’ll be in your new house when the baby’s born. Good luck!
