The thing I don’t miss about Fox 12
November 3, 2009 by Shannon
One word: baseball.
The playoffs and ensuing World Series wreak serious havoc on the newscasts at Fox 12 during the month of October (and part of November, if the series runs that long). I can’t tell you how many nights we had to sit around and wait LONG past our usual 9 p.m. start time…even though our newscast was ready to go. It was boooooring. I learned to despise the sport of baseball. Yes, I admit it — I began to loathe America’s favorite pastime. How un-American of me.
In fact, I desperately attempted to will the Series to end by rooting for whichever team was winning. I thought that maybe — just maybe — I could send some mojo to the winning team and therefore, be able to do the newscast and get home sometime before midnight.
I feel so bad for my former co-workers every time I flip to channel 12 at 9 p.m., only to find the game in full swing. For just a second, I feel that same loathing I felt a year ago while waiting for a final out to end the misery — I mean, end the game. But now, the loathing doesn’t last. Because all I have to do is stretch out on the couch and flip the channel. Ahhh….the luxury.
Sorry, Fox 12 friends. Hope the Series wraps up soon. You’re in my thoughts…hey wait! Is Top Chef on???

I feel the exact same way! I would cheer for the winning team right along with you. But at least we sometimes got a few moments to knit while we waited for the game to end!
