The Santa visit that wasn’t
December 14, 2009 by Shannon
Whoops. We thought Santa Claus would be at Macy’s on Sunday, but he apparently took the day off.
I learned two things. One, nothing sucks more than finding out Santa doesn’t work Sundays after you’ve made a big deal about going to see him. And two, when my husband calls beforehand to check if Santa’s there, I will not settle for an “I couldn’t get a real person on the phone” answer. Next time, I WILL summon a human to report on whether or not the big guy’s there.
However, Kellan was a good sport. And thankfully, someone at Macy’s had the foresight to set out a bunch of blank “Dear Santa” cards next to the Santa mailbox. We plunked Kellan down at the desk, handed him a pen, and he went to work drawing this:

This is Kellan’s rendering of the number one thing on his wish list — a drumset. See all the cymbals? Maybe I’m biased, but I think they’re pretty good.
I’m thanking my lucky stars there were no tears shed over Santa’s absence. And we’ll be back to see Santa next week, when we are SURE he’s there and not checking in on the elves.

I love Kellan’s letter! His pictures are great
That looks like a very loud drum set.
That is the sweetest thing! That pic of him writing to Santa!
That stinks that Santa wasn’t around. The Big Guy only has to work one month out of the year so you’d think he’d be around. I do love Kellan’s letter to Santa. I can totally see the drum set. Hopefully you’ve got a letter into Santa for a pair of ear plugs.
