Meet Shannon Paterson
May 17, 2009 by admin
When I was about 10 years old, I had a very specific vision for my life. Which I outlined in my fill-in-the-blank style journal:
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: Reporter and mom with a husband
And whaddya know? I got there. But I’m pretty sure you’ve gathered that already. Some things you may not know about me:
- I’m a vegetarian and have been for about 15 years.
- My son is a vegetarian by default. I still can’t bear the thought of feeding him meat.
- I love to knit, but really haven’t picked up the needles since my son was born. (There was one baby gift I completed, but that doesn’t really count.)
- I’m a control freak masquerading as a laid-back, chilled-out person. I’m not sure I’m fooling anyone.
- I really love karaoke. Probably too much.
- I love to write.
Until recently, I’d kinda forgotten about that last point. Perhaps years of churning out factual news scripts squeezed the creative writing juice right out of me.
Now it’s time to get back into the game. Because the way I look at it, life is like a sentence. There’s a beginning and an ending, but in between is where the magic happens.

Take care!

P.S. I did go see U2 in Vancouver B.C. in October- it was so awesome I started screaming like a crazed fan and scared Adam.
Shannon,
This is Caroline Sullivan with Unity Media Group. You came into our studio around this time last year.
I know you are pregnant again, but just wanted to check and see if you still have any interested in some spokesperson opportunities as we bring on more clients.
Please email me if you have any interest.
Thanks.

Congratulations Shannon and Mike on the new baby. I’m delighted as one of your (now very) old profs to see you both successful and fruitful on so many fronts. Well done. Keep in touch and drop by to see us the next time you pop up to Moscow. Congrats and God bless.

Shannon, I worked with you on Meridian Living. Congrats about the new baby! I saw your blog on Amy’s blog. I really love your blog and would love to hear any feedback you have about mine.
Shannon,
Hi there! I am currently a co-podcaster on Farland’s Authors Advisory Podcast (www.farlandswritersgroups.com) hosted by my friend and one of my writing mentors, NYT Bestselling Epic Fantasy author David Farland. Jesma told me to come look at your blog because I’m getting back into my writing and wanting to publish. (Fantasy or Sci Fi or both). Jesma suggested I look at your blog because mine needs to go from a “journal” to a real blog, but I’m not sure what to blog about.
Other than writing and life. Which is what I re-christened my blog. Anyway, the interviews we’ve conducted so far are: 1. David Farland 2. Janet Evannovich (e mail interview posted on the writing site) 3. Kevin J Anderson- 11 Tips to Increase Writing Productivity and soon we’re scheduling David again and trying to schedule Brandon Sanderson and also Kevin’s wife, Rebecca Moesta.
We also have some of my co-podcaster Robin’s author friends coming on soon to discuss how to run a successful writing group, because they’ve all been published. (They aren’t my genre, so I don’t know alot about them, honestly).
Check out the links please and if you could this one: http://kjablog.com/?p=1091
Its from Kevin Anderson’s Blog about the next Superstars of Writing Seminar to be held in 2011 in SLC UT.
Thank you Shannon and I enjoyed seeing you again when you, Jesma and my wife and I hung out in Boise recently. (Jesma “pimped” your blog, by the way). Looks awesome!
