Random thoughts, begone!
November 9, 2009 by Shannon
Ever have those nights where the wheels in your head just WON’T STOP SPINNING??? Honestly, why is it the brain mulls over some of the most inane subjects while it is supposed to be shutting down for the night? This is just some of the stupid junk my brain has tortured me with lately:
- I wonder if Kellan’s hair is getting too long.
- Is is hard to cook eggplant in a CrockPot?
- Those frozen brussel sprouts I made the other night were awful.
- Why doesn’t Food Network have a vegetarian chef on the air?
- I need to make a pumpkin smoothie tomorrow.
- I should drive by my great-grandmother’s house. Didn’t I do that last year? I don’t remember. I should go by there again.
- I forgot to call my best friend back last week.
- I wonder why my best friend doesn’t read my blog. Oh. Maybe it would help if I return her calls.
- Maybe she does read my blog but just never comments and never tells me she reads it.
- Would blogging about Kellan’s obsession with wrapping strangulation hazards such as cords and scarves around his neck get me in trouble with child protective services?
- I bet if I did, all those “Parenting Help in (insert state here)” websites would link to it like they did to Eeek! The frights of parenting. Does that mean I need help with parenting?
- I am never buying frozen brussel sprouts again.
- I am going to call my best friend tomorrow.
- I should really brush out the cat’s fur too, because she’s starting to look homeless.
- I really want a pumpkin smoothie right now.

1. I think your boy’s hair is adorable.

2. I have no idea.
3. I hate brussel sprouts.
4. They don’t? Really? They should, and they should feature things like “how to cook eggplant in a crockpot” and “how to improve your frozen brussel sprout recipe”
5. That sounds DELICIOUS!
6. That sounds lovely.
7. I do this all the time. Forget, I mean.
8. I don’t think my bff reads my blog, either. (When I have more than two posts, I’ll be sure to ask her.)
9. I bet she does and you just don’t know it.
10. I doubt it, I bet it’s pretty common, actually.
11. I think we all need help with it… good thing we live in a family-oriented community.
12. Good idea.
13. Another good idea.
14. You are full of good ideas!
15. I hope you got to enjoy a pumpkin smoothie.
I read your blog frequently and I’m always encouraged by your honesty!
OMG, I had a night like that last night, too. Also, when I did go to sleep, it was filled with really weird dreams. It’s funny because I don’t think anyone in my family reads my blog but I don’t know because they never say anything about it. Now I’m totally craving a pumpkin smoothie. Yum.
Wow! Be thankful it’s smoothies, Kellan’s hair and brussel sprouts that’s keeping you awake, or not. I think I’m saying…..it could be worse!
Love Amanda’s reply!! And I want a pumpkin smoothie too!
Why would you even eat brussel sprouets? They are quite possibly one of the worst foods ever! Yuck! Ok, that’s my random thought. This post made me giggle…these things happen to me all the time.
Okay, so you’re saying that the brain is SUPPOSED to shut down at night? Lying awake for hours on end thinking about mundane details is NOT normal?……….uh oh.
