I used to be a nightowl, back in the days when I didn’t get home from the newsroom until 10:30 pm. Now? Not so much. My child has been waking up at 6:3o am for days on end. Days, I tell you. Several days. Which tells me this is not just a fleeting thing – this early wake up call is becoming the norm.

I’ll never forget my first Mother’s Day as a new mom. My two month and two day old baby boy flashed some of the sweetest smiles I have ever seen. He had just picked up this talent, and he grinned at me every chance he got.

I’ve had about a month now to get used to the idea that we are moving. During that time I’ve gone from bawling during HGTV’s My First Sale to feverishly working my fingers to the bone in the yard to get it looking perfect. Lord knows I don’t just weed and move bark mulch around for the fun of it.

We had a really great parent/teacher conference this week with Kellan’s two preschool teachers. It’s nice to hear that some of the things that may drive you crazy as a parent are actually great developmental milestones. So in the spirit of encouraging Kellan’s developmental advances, I am trying to exercise a little more patience with his millions upon millions of questions.

I have a feeling you’re going to take off again before you decide to stick around for good, and if you are considering doing so, just know that I might slip into some sort of rain/cold-induced depression. Ah ha. Now I get what people mean when they say “every pregnancy is different.” I am only 26 weeks pregnant, and this baby feels like she is going to fall right out. In fact, sometimes I think she might be considering poking an arm out to check the weather. (Don’t bother, sweetie. There’s rain in the forecast. AGAIN.)
