Oh baby! Tuesday is the big day
August 2, 2010 by Shannon
I figured it would come down to this – looks like I’ll be having another induction. When the doctor induced my labor with Kellan, it took 22 hours from the start of the Pitocin drip to the time I finally gave birth. I was so hungry by the end of ordeal, all I could think about was when I would eat again. Yes, I was enamored with my baby, but I adored my pre-ordered tray of hospital food. If anyone were to come between me and that tray, I would have let out a Chris Farley-esque growl, “LAY OFF ME. I’M STARVING.” Then I probably would have torn their arms off, just for good measure.
I’m a little more laid back about the idea of a medical intervention this time, although I’m still a little disappointed. I would have liked at least one of my kids to just come out voluntarily. You know, just so I would know what it feels like to go through early labor without a bunch of tubes and machines connected to me. And so I could get the jetted tub, for pete’s sake. But whatever – I’ve done an induction before, and this one has got to go more smoothly, right? It’s just got to.
So by this time tomorrow, I’ll be in the hospital! Wish me luck…

Good luck cousin, I’ll be rooting for smooth sailing tomorrow!
Hugs, I know exactly how you are feeling! Being induced was not something I hoped for with my first delivery, but my blood pressure was too high and it was the safest option for us both. When you go in are they immediately starting you on pitocin? I had to have my cervix softened for 12 hours before they would start me on pitocin. That was pure hell. I then went through labor and delivery for 11 hours. Yes on the hunger part. Those ice chips are worthless! No matter what or how she gets here, focus on the fact that you are meeting your daughter tomorrow. It will all be worth it the minute you see her. Hoping all goes smoothly!!!!
Good luck tomorrow, Shannon!! Hope everything goes smoothly. I had a similar story to yours the first time around. But the second came the night before I was scheduled to be induced & was MUCH quicker, around 6 hrs. No matter what, I think the second time’s easiest because you’ve done it before. I’m sure you’ll do great. I can’t WAIT to “meet” your brand-new baby girl! I’m expecting you to instantly update your blog & Twitter, of course.
