Oh baby! The latest progress report…

July 22, 2010 by Shannon

Prior to this week’s OB appointment, I’d had a few painful contractions. I’ve been feeling more pressure. In short, I’ve been feeling that there’s just GOT to be some progress on the baby front.

After this week’s appointment? I am convinced that my body and I are horribly out of sync with each other. Because while I was thinking progress, my body was apparently thinking status quo.

There is no progress.

So unless there’s a major medical miracle in very short order, there is no way I’ll be delivering with my regular OB. Nope, he’s off for a three week vacation starting Saturday. So, this week I met the guy who will be delivering the baby. He seems nice. Sigh.

Whatever. He’s totally qualified, and friendly, and it’s no big deal. And we’ll end up with a baby once it’s over, which is all that matters, right?

Ultrasound profile picAt least we got to see her again this week. I was a little worried about a slowdown in movement, so the doctor ordered an ultrasound just to make sure everything’s fine. Not only is she fine, but she passed the test with flying colors! And we got another peek at her profile. Awww.

But you know what? I don’t know why any of this should be a surprise to me. I knew from the beginning that this kid wasn’t going to be here on or before her due date. I just knew it. So really, things are turning out just the way I thought they would. Except for the doctor switcheroo, of course.

So the wait continues. I’ll let you know when/if things change…

Awww what a cute profile. I’m sorry that you wont be able to have your doctor for delivery. I’m glad she is healthy and hopefully she’ll grace us with her birth soon.

    She’s beautiful! :)

We didn’t get our normal OB with Iokepa either. I can totally empathize with you though. When I thought he was going to come earlier, our doc was on a family vacation. The ironic thing is he was home from his vacation, but wen to McCall for the day when Iokepa decided to arrive. It wasn’t bad at all having someone new though, I promise!

Take care of yourself these next few days - when she decides to come, that’s all that will matter - especially when you look into her eyes that first time. :)

Believe me, I KNOW how frustrated you must feel, but she’ll come when she’s ready. And there’s still time for her to arrive on her due date, right? My 2nd baby waited till noon the day before his due date to get moving.

My 2nd baby was due over Spring Break. If he’d been born at the end of the week my OB would have been out of town, but he was born at the beginning of the week when the pediatrician was out of town instead! So nice, at least, that you got to meet the other doctor ahead of time! Good luck!
