My house is alive with the sound of music

Kellan can now add another title to his resume: musical lover. Yes, musicals. The unique cinematic genre in which actors randomly break out into song and dance while having an otherwise normal conversation.

Well, I suppose he’s not truly a fan of all musicals at this point. Just one in particular. The Sound of Music. In fact, I’m pretty sure he’d like Fraulein Maria to be his governess. At the moment, he’d like to watch this movie every day. I happen to like The Sound of Music, but daily screenings of it are a little much.

And I know he really loves it because he has a million — no a BILLION — questions about the movie. Not to mention the way he’s working lyrics into every day life. Several times a day, I hear him singing, “Do, re, me! Do, re, me!” And last week at breakfast, he hit me with this gem: “Mommy? How do you solve a problem like Maria?” In all seriousness, people. He really wanted to know.

But you know, maybe I should be thankful for Kellan’s newfound obsession. He’s giving the drum set a bit of a break. I suppose hearing Adelweiss 100 times over is more tolerable than crashing cymbals and a thumping bass drum.

How do you solve a problem like Maria? That is so funny! Now Kellan and Matt have something to bond over - he loves that movie too!

I really don’t think there’s any way to stop it. This kid is going to be in the music business. It seems to be in his blood.
