Mean kids

Time for another installment of Mean Kids Piss Me Off.
Okay, I know kids can be nasty. But really, do four-year olds have to be downright mean? The following happened this week on the playground, after Kellan and I stopped there for a little lunch and time in the sandbox. The playground was fairly empty, so when another boy and his brother arrived Kellan decided to try to make a friend.
Kellan: Hi!
Mean kid on playground: Hi.
Kellan: Will you play with me? Cause I’ve been playing all by myself, so will you play with me?
Mean kid: See that little boy down there? That little one? (He pointed at his brother, a toddler who obviously is just getting the hang of walking.) You can play with him. Because I don’t want to play with YOU (pointing at Kellan).
At this point, Kellan looked down at me from the top of the playground equipment with sad eyes and a protruding bottom lip.
Me: That’s okay, Kellan. We have to go soon anyway.
Mean kid: HA HA HA HA HA HA! (A mean-spirited laugh because I’d just said we were leaving.)
Me: (An icy glare in the mean kid’s direction that stopped him cold.)
My suspicions that the kid was truly mean were confirmed when, after breaking Kellan’s friendly little heart, he ran past his toddling little brother, pushed him aside, and said, “Move, I’m going down the slide first.”
I know Kellan is not going to be the nicest kid on the planet all the time. But if I ever caught him behaving that way, he’d be off that playground equipment and having a little talk with me, PRONTO. Like I said, mean kids piss me off.

there are some really mean kids out there (A.K.A. Brats) it good that your kid is not that way
Kellan will Never be like that kid. Even at his worst behaved he would never intentionally hurt someones feelings. That kid must have parents that don’t care about his behavior.
I agree, if Griffin ever did that we would be on the way to the car for a serious talk.
It just breaks my heart when I see another kid being mean to my children. I know you feel.
On another note,
I can’t wait to meet that little baby girl!
Love you,
Jezz
Mean kids are annoying. Moms that don’t do anything about their mean kids put me in a rage.
What the hell is up with some parents? He wouldn’t be acting like that if he hadn’t seen it somewhere before…. And I do think Kellan is one of the sweetest kids on the plantet!!
oooh…I had a Princess Brat in my class last year that did exactly that for no purpose other than she is mean. And, that apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Thank God this year is over!
