Love Heart Art
February 11, 2011 by Shannon

Remember folding paper in half and cutting out hearts as a kid? I always loved plastering my classroom valentine bag with a smattering of simple and symmetrical paper hearts in red, white and pink. In fact, I still love them. But instead of gluing a mish-mash of them all over a brown paper bag, I now have a much more stylish way to use them.
It just so happens that we have a few empty white picture frames lying around, so I glued stacks of paper hearts together in varying sizes and papers and simply put ‘em behind glass. What’s great about this project is you can get really creative with your materials – I cut hearts out of silver fabric, a red party napkin and a white paper towel (I loved the texture of this particular heart). I also used lots of double-sided scrapbooking paper in Valentine’s Day-ish patterns and colors. Fancy, pattern-cutting scissors come in really handy too. I used two different kinds – one that makes a rickrack pattern and another that cuts a wavy edge. And don’t forget to use the leftover heart outlines that are left after you cut out your hearts!
This Love Heart Art would also be great as the front of a Valentine’s Day card for your sweetheart! Have fun!
