Happy Birthday Kellan!!!

Happy birthday to my sweet and wonderful four year-old boy! I can’t believe you’re four. It seems like just a couple months ago I brought you home, sat in a rocker and wept tears of joy that you were finally here.

You’re creative, caring and sensitive. You’re always at the ready when you baby sister needs a toy picked up off the floor, or you’ll happily do a little jig to keep her happy and smiling. You wake up way too early in the morning for my liking, but you’ve learned to play quietly until I wake up to feed you breakfast, and once 7 am hits, I usually find you creating some elaborate storyline with your Star Wars figures, or busily painting or taping paper – creating anything from a paper version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to one of Dr. Seuss’ truffula trees. You love music – both listening to it and creating it – and you spend about 85% percent of your day humming or singing while you play. You ask me about one million questions during the course of every day, some I can answer, some I can’t. I’m always impressed by your inquisitive nature and attention to detail. It delights me that you’ll sit and listen to me read you stories, sometimes for an hour at a time!

Although you’ve offered to not eat or sleep in an effort to not grow up on me, I know you’re only going to become more amazing and wonderful as the years go by. Happy birthday, my Kellan. I love you and can’t wait to see what adventures you’ll explore in the year ahead!
