Woo hoo! A giveaway on AnchorMommy! I’m not really into giveaways and reviews – either hosting them or reading them – so I thought long and hard before deciding to do this one. But these little Scentsy Buddies are just so cute! And I love the idea of using aromatherapy to help little ones nod off to sleep. And since so many of you have little ones too, well, I thought it would be nice to give you an opportunity to snag one just in time for Christmas.

Before I get to the giveaway details, I must take you back to a little visit I made to a shop in Seattle while visiting friends a couple years ago. I have no idea what shop it was, but it was near the market and had an adorable selection of baby items. I laid eyes on a fleecy, blue teddy bear which was filled with lavender. It smelled HEAVENLY. I just knew I had to have that bear. More specifically, I knew Kellan had to have that bear. He was about 14 months old at the time, and let’s just say that I was still waiting eagerly for a night where he would allow me more than a five hour stretch of sleep. I laid all my hopes on that fleecy, scented bear.

Fast forward a few months. The bear didn’t really work miracles, as I’d hoped, but it did help relax Kellan at bedtime. And then IT happened. Kellan decided to strip down in his crib one day, when he was supposed to be sleeping, and he did so in spite of (or maybe because of?) his dirty diaper.

Yikes.

Everything had to go in the washing machine. I knew the bear probably would not weather the wash cycle very well, but what choice did I have? There was no zipper to pull out his lavender-filled insides. So against my better judgement, I did it. I tossed him in, and he was never the same. A bad case of rigor mortis set in, and he eventually became completely solidified. Not exactly the soft, cuddly scented bear that a kid would want to snuggle up with.

Enter the Scentsy Buddy. It has one very important feature that Kellan’s old lavender bear did not: a removable Scent Pak. That’s very important for two reasons. One, the scent can be replaced when it starts to fade. And two, the Scent Pak can come out if you need to toss the Buddy in the washing machine. Which, let’s face it, is gonna happen.

I also have to say that they are absolutely adorable. We have Lenny the Lamb, and his fur is super soft and fuzzy – just perfect for a little baby to snuggle with. (Ella was enamored with his fuzzy parts.) Plus, the lavender Scent Pak is lovely and relaxing. I also love that Lenny’s bum, arms and legs contain beanbags, because they give him a little weight and help him sit up well.

I think the only drawback to these cuddly little creatures is that they are not recommended for children under three. Which is a bummer, since as soon as I saw Lenny, I knew he had to be Ella’s little buddy. But I think the age recommendation is most likely based on the fact that a child could easily unzip the Buddy and remove its Scent Pak, so I think what I’ll do is keep the Pak in long enough to make Lenny smell really good, then remove it so Ella can’t pull it out. Then once she’s old enough, she can cart him around with his Scent Pak in place.
