I once bought a “lavender laundry sachet” at a sidewalk faire for about 12 bucks. This year, I thought I would make some to give away as Christmas gifts, for just a fraction of the price.
What is a lavender laundry sachet, you ask? Well, much like a fabric softener sheet, it’s something you throw in the dryer with sheets or towels to give them the subtle fragrance of relaxing lavender.

There is exactly one part of the year during which I love the door of my entryway coat closet. Most of the time, it’s just something I try to ignore. But during the holiday season, the 70’s-esque slatted door becomes a charming Christmas card display that couldn’t be easier to set up. All is takes is some pretty ribbon, some clothespins and a bunch of decorative cards.

Success! The acrobat costume was completed with plenty of time to spare. (I’m a little shocked that I did not sew it to the big fuzzy bathrobe I was wearing.) I also attached a couple of cute little bat ears to his cap, which are hard to see in this picture.
We even had enough time to get the house decked out and round up some costumes for ourselves…

This Ghostly Ghoul Wreath is a quick, cheap and easy Halloween craft that you can make with the kids in under a half an hour, using items you probably already have around the house! These little ghosts are cute, quirky, and the more imperfect they are, the better.

Did I ever tell you that I used to be a knitting fanatic? Oh, I was a knitting fiend. I picked it up around the same time one of my best friends and fellow co-workers was learning to knit, and we used to spend all our dinner breaks watching American Idol and knitting our little fingers off.

Last week I found myself in need of something to keep Kellan occupied. Something other than a coloring book and the TV. Thank goodness for washable markers and paper bags.

I planned for our recent Oregon Coast trip in much the same way a person might plan for an extended stay in a remote country. I tried to think of everything. Part of the road trip plan had to include a breakfast in the car that would be yummy, relatively mess-free, and toddler friendly. The result: Breakfast on a Stick.

It’s all set! In a few weeks, we’ll be heading to the Oregon Coast for a nice family getaway. I’m already starting to think about what to pack, but more importantly, I’m thinking about how to survive our first big road trip.
We’ve never driven more than 3 hours with Kellan before. The trip we’re taking will average about 10 hours. Yikes.
