Well friends, we have a new baby! Her name is Ella Cassidy and she was born at 7:15 pm on August 3 2010, weighing in at 8 lb. 7 oz. and measuring 21 inches.

Whoever said second babies always come faster? I’ve been on Pitocin for about seven hours and I’m only dilated to three centimeters.

I figured it would come down to this – looks like I’ll be having another induction. When the doctor induced my labor with Kellan, it took 22 hours from the start of the Pitocin drip to the time I finally gave birth…

I’ve spent the last several days hoping for some progress on the baby front. I got checked on Wednesday, and started to show signs of early labor within a couple hours! Yay! Right?
Wrong.

It’s no small undertaking to move while pregnant. You know how normally your nesting instinct goes into overdrive? You start to clean out the linen closet and reorganize the pantry, in addition to washing loads of little baby clothes? While my instincts were telling me to do all that, I did the opposite.

Prior to this week’s OB appointment, I’d had a few painful contractions. I’ve been feeling more pressure. In short, I’ve been feeling that there’s just GOT to be some progress on the baby front.
After this week’s appointment? I am convinced that my body and I are horribly out of sync with each other. Because while I was thinking progress, my body was apparently thinking status quo.

Everyone tells me my life is about to change dramatically. That two children don’t just double your workload – they triple or quadruple it. I wonder if I’m prepared.
