Baby book guilt
July 13, 2009 by Shannon
Finding the right baby book was like setting out to find the Holy Grail. Turns out, my intense search for the “perfect” book was pretty pointless.
I have barely cracked it open.
There, I said it. Now I can’t hide from the shame. How big is my baby book guilt? Well, remember that mythical guy who tried to carry the world on his shoulders? It feels kinda like that.
I feel like a jerk.
How old will Kellan be before I fill in the family tree? Can I recall his first foods? What about his first haircut? Wait! I have dated pictures to verify that event. At least I can fill in one line with confidence.
The good news is, when I dug out the book to take a picture of it for this post, I discovered there are more filled-in pages than I first thought! Admittedly, most of the pages are covered in sticky notes. And my husband wrote them. In chicken scratch.

At least I’m not the only one. Jossy’s baby book has been in my “inbox” for 3 months! Some of us are too busy spending time with our little ones, right? And now you Shannon have your Mom site, so it makes up for any blank pages in your baby’s book!
I am overcome with the same guilt. I did great the first time around with Lucy, but poor little Alice’s baby book is barely begun. Since I acquired a vintage typewriter a while back, I stealing Liz’s great idea over at Lovely Little Lovelies:

p.s. She’s another local Mommy blogger with great style!
My girl is 4 and I have yet to put together her baby book. Worse, I’m doing it scrapbook style, so no handy dandy fill in spaces for me, nooooo. My vision was to create the perfect baby book and where am I? Still same as you, haven’t even made it to page one.
You may not have a baby book, but this kid is pretty well documented on your blogs! Now, that is priceless. And there’s no chicken scratching.
