Arts, crafts…and bowling?
June 3, 2009 by Shannon
What a great way to spend a rainy spring afternoon. Construct a colorful set of bowling pins!
I’ve been hoarding empty toilet paper rolls for a while now, with the feeling I’d be inspired to come up with some crafty purpose for them. And I did! Ta da!
I gathered up my set of 10 tubes, and set Kellan up at his high chair with a sponge brush and washable paints. I gave him one tube and color at a time, so we’d have a nice multicolored set of pins. After painting and letting them dry (which really only took about a half hour or so) I put a numbered sticker on each one, just to add a little educational value to his new, do-it-yourself playset. Then I rounded up a wiffle ball to double as a bowling ball.
We use a nice long hallway with tile floor as our bowling alley, which provides an echoey crashing sound when the “pins” fall. But a carpeted alley would work just fine too.
Now, if I could just figure out a crafty way to construct one of those automatic pin setting machines…

Reuse, reduce, recycle and recraft! Way to go, girlfriend!
Great idea! I’m currently gathering summer entertainment ideas like a mad woman. Hadley’s out of school in two days and I have got to have an arsenal of stop the kids from fighting ideas or I’m dead.
Wow! What a great idea! Great haircut too!
That is a great idea! Thanks for being so creative. I better start collecting my pins.
Can I just say thank goodness for washable art supplies! I love the bowling set idea, toilet paper rolls also make great telescopes and binoculars for nature hikes.
WOW! I never would have thought of that! I bet he loved it too!
My family members every time say that I am killing my time here at net, but I know I am getting knowledge all the time by reading such nice posts.
I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the
way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two images.
Maybe you could space it out better?
Cool blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it
from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog
jump out. Please let me know where you got your theme.
Many thanks
