Lately strangers have gone out of their way to help me. Maybe it’s because I look like I’m going to give birth at any second, and they want to help me get where I’m going so they don’t have to witness it. After all, my belly does need its own zip code. Whatever. I’m grateful for the help…
You guys. Seriously. The stomach I’m sporting around is ridiculous. Perfect strangers comment on how I look like I’m going to give birth any day. You should see their jaws nearly fall off their faces when I tell them I still have two months to go.
As the saying goes, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” So I must have had a total blast in the past year, because this anniversary has totally snuck up on me.
Portabella. How’s that sound for a baby girl name? It’s like two names in one, really. We could call her Porta for short, or just Bella. I can just picture it now…”Oh Portabella, who’s my chubby little mushroom?”

Okay, I know kids can be nasty. But really, do four-year olds have to be downright mean?
I used to be a nightowl, back in the days when I didn’t get home from the newsroom until 10:30 pm. Now? Not so much. My child has been waking up at 6:3o am for days on end. Days, I tell you. Several days. Which tells me this is not just a fleeting thing – this early wake up call is becoming the norm.
I’ll never forget my first Mother’s Day as a new mom. My two month and two day old baby boy flashed some of the sweetest smiles I have ever seen. He had just picked up this talent, and he grinned at me every chance he got.
Mother’s Day is THIS SUNDAY! My husband just reminded me of that fact last night. Yikes. I’ve got a little shopping to do for Kellan’s doting grandmas. What do I want for Mother’s Day? Hmm…
