Is there anything funnier than the language skills of a toddler? The mixed up phrases, the swapped out consonants, the mispronounced words…hearing this stuff is much-needed comic relief after a long day of meals, snacks, missed naps and a messy house.

Thanksgiving has never been my favorite holiday. Not that there’s anything wrong with it — I just don’t really get excited for Thanksgiving. Maybe because the whole day is centered around a big, roasted bird. (Now if the main course were mashed potatoes, that would be a different story.)

Are you ready for Thanksgiving yet?
I’m not. I’ve thought about one or two dishes, but that’s about it. Luckily, I’m not hosting at my house, so I’m not too concerned about the lack of forethought. But it’s time to get the talk going with my mom and mother-in-law to see what our plan of attack will be this year.

Six months. I can’t believe it’s been six months. But I look at the calendar and yes, this week marks six months since I left my job as a news anchor and producer to stay home with my son and launch AnchorMommy.

This pumpkin smoothie is like a piece of pumpkin pie in a glass, with a lot less sugar. And it’s a perfect way to use up a bit of leftover puree from a pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread recipe!

Life with an almost three year old is all about intensity. Intense highs, intense lows. There is little to no in-between. And as frustrating as the fits and tantrums can be, the simple joys make it all worth it. Case in point: rolling down hills.
