Wait just a darn second. What’s going on here? Could it be that we’re already halfway through the summer?
Yep, I checked the calendar. June is history. July is halfway over. August is not far away.
On top of this somewhat sad seasonal milestone, next week will mark my two-month anniversary of stay-at-home momhood. Where is the time going?

I’m not gonna lie. One of the greatest perks of my job as a news anchor was the station’s partnership with a fantastic hair salon. I got a cut and color every six weeks or so, and all I had to pay was a gratuity.
Now?
My locks have not come in contact with scissors or foils since mid-April. Three months of sheer inattention.

My mom is convinced that Sesame Street is one of the main reasons I learned to read by age four. But judging by what I found on a Sesame Street product recently, they’ve slacked off big time in the past 30 or so years.

When I tell people — especially moms — that my son and I are vegetarian, they almost always ask, “How do you make sure he gets enough protein?”
My answer: contrary to popular belief, adults and kids don’t need the massive amounts of protein that you might think.

I know it’s coming. Any day now I could find myself the victim of a Killer Tantrum — one of those rare and dreaded moments where a child completely loses it in public and the parent is completely helpless to do anything but grab the child and leave the area ASAP.
How do I know I’m about to become a victim? We’ve witnessed several house-shaking tantrums at home over the past couple of days…

My chest is so full of ick that when I cough, my lungs seriously consider making a run for it and nearly come up out of my throat.
The ick in my lungs has also migrated to my left ear, and I can’t hear a thing. So you could probably sneak up on me and give me a really good scare, if you wanted to.

I’d like to take this opportunity to set the record straight. Vegetarians eat salad. But a vegetarian cannot subsist on salads alone.
And get this — vegetarians can eat tacos! (As long as the meat isn’t beef, or any other kind of animal.) Mexican night is a big hit at our house and my meat-eating husband enjoys taco night too. So, you might ask, what do we have in place of meat?
